Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office.
